Scenes of Golegã 2017 by Lena Saugen

Once again Golegã has been and gone thoroughly enjoyed by people from all over the globe.

It’s probably one of the most photographed events in Portugal and in the top 50 of equestrian activities worldwide, covered by numerous magazines and website articles.

The eccentric mix of tradition, modern and the sense of the timeless inspires all photographers both professional and amateur. You cannot help but click at every turn all day and way into the night. When walking around I see every other person clutching their camera in anticipation and wonder for sure I am doing the same.  Needless to say it is quite difficult to be original when you are photographing something already so captured by so many but it seems not so for our super creative photographer Lena Saugen (www.lenasaugenphotography.com).  Her visit was short but sweet and in that time she has completely wowed us all with her special and awesome view of Golegã National Fair 2016.

I make no apologies for publishing so many images as each and everyone is utterly stunning.

Work of a true artist, she doesn’t need special lights, studios, set up moment just her creativity, her camera and imagination. See for yourself why we are so proud to have Lena Saugen on our team.

Lusitano Horse Finder had a small studio in the manga area at Golegã behind the caseta of Coudelaria Felix da Costa.

The studio is to present our projects and work but also sometimes we invite horses in to be photographed. This year was no exception we we were joined by some colts from Coudelaria Vila Vicoşa also featured in our breeders programmes to have their photograph taken. I think Lena’s images of their colts are quite remarkable.

Also visiting our studio was Portugal’s most famous dressage stallion Rubi AR who competed with Gonçalo Carvalho in the London 2012 Olympics. Rubi is owned by

Christine Jacoberger

who is an inspired business woman that has Team Rubi. Christine was elegantly riding the noble Rubi sidesaddle right in the buzz of the manga.

We were delighted that they came to visit us, what’s more Christine even rode under the low door right into the studio. Rubi was as always completely laid back about the whole thing.  These days he is enjoying life in Portugal ridden by Rita Ralão at Quinta dos Cedros and working as highly successful breeding stallion.  Already many off spring are proving themselves in dressage  competition.  In particular the fabulous stallion Coroado AR competing at International level GP ridden and trained by Maria Caetano Couceiro.

We hope that you have enjoyed these wonderful images as much as we have and if so please let us know and show them to your friends. It is always great to give Lena feedback on her work.
